Profile of Dr. Vishnu Kanhere

Dr. Vishnu Kanhere is a practicing Chartered Accountant and a qualified Cost Accountant. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner (Association of Certified Fraud Examiners U.S.A) and a Certified Information System Auditor (Information Systems Audit and Control Association, U.S.A ) He has successfully completed I.C.R.A. (UK) approved certified Lead Auditors course for ISO 9001 : 2000 (Quality Management System) and ISO 22000: 2005 (Food Safety Management System) which gives him the financial, commercial and information technology background.

His professional field and practice covers taxation, auditing, accounting, financial management, costing, management consultancy, evaluation and valuation of intangibles including T V and Cinematic Content - Computer Software, Brands and Intellectual Property Valuations and other intangibles. He has carried out a number of Software (content) valuation assignments for prestigious top of the line clients in the Media and Entertainment Industry both in India and for international clients, abroad.

Dr. Kanhere has had a brilliant academic record throughout and has received various scholarships, prizes and awards through school, college and even at the post graduate level. He is a Gold Medallist having stood First at the all India ICWAI (Cost Accountancy) Examination, and Silver Medallist having stood Second at the all India CA (Chartered Accountancy) Examination. He has also been awarded the PhD degree, for his thesis on "Valuation of Software- Financial Dimensions - Concepts and Practices in Indian Industry" through the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies by the University of Bombay.

He has participated in and has been a key speaker at seminars on a wide range of topics ranging from Software Valuation, Brand Valuation, Environmental Audit to E-Commerce, Forensic Auditing, Information System Security and Cyberlaws.

He has made an in depth study of both Direct as well as Indirect Taxes and has to his credit a publication on Environmental Audit and has also written a book on Income Tax. He has written a book on "Software Valuation", the first on the subject published by the International Publishing House- Thomson. He has also written a number of articles on E-Commerce, I.T.Revolution and Cyber-laws.

He is a faculty with many Management Institutes and also government Academies. He is a faculty for programs conducted for Indian Oil Corporation, Indian Railways and NASCEN and the Indian Audit and Accounts Department, Regional Training Institute, Comptroller & Auditor General of India, Bombay. He is a visiting faculty with the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Bombay, Alkesh Dinesh Mody Institute of Investment Studies, Mumbai, Indian Institute of Public Administration, Mantralaya, Sydenham Institute of Management Studies, SIES Institute of Management Studies, Nerul, the Bombay School of Business, Colaba, Mumbai, the WIRC of the Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India, Bombay, the WIRC of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, the WIRC of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

He is a PhD guide for Management Studies at the University of Mumbai, Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, Nasik and Aligarh Muslim University.

He is actively involved in and contributes to a number of professional associations. He is on the Managing Committee of Computer Society of India, Mumbai Chapter, the research and academic relations coordinator of ISACA, Mumbai Chapter, Chairman WIRC of eISA and a member of the International Publications Committee of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, USA.
